Principal Message
August 6, 2025
Dear Mather Heights Families, Students, and Staff,
Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year at Mather Heights Elementary! I am honored to begin this exciting journey with each of you as your principal. Whether you are a returning family or new to our community, we are thrilled to have you join the Mather FLYERS family.
This year, our theme is "Soaring Together, Reaching New Heights"—a reflection of our shared commitment to growing stronger as a school community, pushing boundaries, and lifting each other toward success. At Mather Heights, we believe that every student can achieve excellence when we work collaboratively, support one another, and lead with heart.
Grounded in over two decades of experience as an educator and school leader, I bring a deep passion for student learning, family partnerships, and educator development. With past roles in classroom instruction, district and state-level curriculum work, and site administration, I know firsthand the transformative power of teamwork and strong school culture.
This year, we will:
- Strengthen our Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to empower staff and improve instruction for all students.
- Implement a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to meet every student’s academic and behavioral needs through targeted, data-driven strategies.
- Prioritize whole-child development, encouraging not only academic achievement but also emotional growth, resilience, and a sense of belonging.
Family engagement remains essential to student success. We invite you to stay actively involved—through PTA, school events, classroom volunteering, and open communication with our team. Together, we will build a nurturing, high-achieving environment where every child feels seen, heard, and inspired to reach new heights.
Thank you for your trust, your partnership, and your belief in the promise of every Mather Heights student. Let’s soar together into a year full of learning, growth, and joyful success!
With gratitude and excitement,
Joel C. Francisco, MA-Ed, MA-ELT, NBCT
